UI DVC Commends Kabiyesi Professor A. T. Hassan for Giving Back to Alma Mater

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration of the University of Ibadan (UI), Professor Peter O. Olapegba, has extolled Kabiyesi Professor A. T. Hassan, an alumnus and retired Professor of the Department of Zoology, for his generosity in giving back to the university.

The university recently commissioned the Environmental Biology Laboratory in the Department of Zoology, facilitated by Professor Hassan. The laboratory will enhance the quality of teaching and research in the department and strengthen the university's capacity, particularly during accreditation exercises.

The DVC emphasized the importance of alumni and stakeholders giving back to the university, noting that such acts of support significantly reduce the institution's financial and infrastructural burden. He expressed the university's profound gratitude for the project, stating that Kabiyesi had etched his name, that of his family, and his kingdom in gold.

The immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, and the Registrar, Mr. Ganiyu O. Saliu, also expressed deep appreciation for Professor Hassan's generosity and commitment to the development of his alma mater. The Head of the Department of Zoology, Professor Aina Adeogun, noted that giving back to the department had long been a cherished dream of the donor.

He acknowledged the invaluable role the institution played in nurturing his passion for knowledge and research, which contributed significantly to his professional success.
