Professor Helen Labeodan, Chairperson of the Anti-cultism Campaign Committee at the University of Ibadan Centre for Social Orientation (CenSo), has issued a stern warning to secondary school students regarding the severe consequences associated with cult membership. The cautionary message was delivered during an anti-cultism sensitization visit to Ikolaba High School in Ibadan.

Addressing the students, Professor Labeodan emphasized that joining a cult is not only morally wrong but also entails criminal activities that carry serious legal penalties. She emphasized the gravity of the situation, urging students to steer clear of any involvement in cultism or other antisocial behaviors that could jeopardize their futures.

Highlighting the detrimental effects of cultism, Professor Labeodan outlined a range of consequences, including academic underachievement due to missed lectures and loss of focus. She also warned of the dangers of engaging in illicit substances, health risks associated with substance abuse, and the potential for violent clashes that could result in tragic outcomes.
