The Lagos State University (LASU) Career Development Centre (LCDC), in collaboration with the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), hosted the Africa Master's Tour Lagos on Monday, 16th September 2024.

LASU Partners with GMAC for Africa Master's Tour Lagos, Empowering Students for Global Business Education

The Lagos State University (LASU) Career Development Centre (LCDC), in collaboration with the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), hosted the Africa Master's Tour Lagos on Monday, 16th September 2024. This educational initiative, held at the J. F. Ade Ajayi Hall, University of Lagos (UNILAG), aimed to equip students from LASU's Faculties of Management Sciences and Social Sciences, as well as UNILAG students, with essential knowledge on securing admissions and scholarships at top European business schools.

During the opening presentation, Mr. David Adediran, GMAC’s Business Development Manager for the Middle East and Africa, emphasised the Council’s mission to prepare African students for the competitive global job market. The sensitisation programme included multiple informative panel sessions focusing on the admission processes, funding options, and scholarship opportunities available for business master's degrees in Europe.

Key representatives from prestigious European institutions such as ESMT Berlin, IE University, and London Business School provided valuable insights into the admissions process, including how to craft strong application essays and prepare personal statements. Another session featured panelists from Bayes Business School, Bocconi University, and the University of St. Gallen, who discussed strategies for excelling in admissions interviews.

In addition to academic advice, students were informed about leveraging career services, internships, and networking opportunities during their master's programmes by experts from BI Norwegian Business School, ESSEC Business School, Imperial College Business School, and UCD Smurfit School. Visa application processes and the GMAT exam preparation were also covered by representatives from the British Council, the Italian Embassy, and CampusFrance.

The event, attended by key members of LASU’s Career Development Centre, concluded with networking opportunities, photo sessions, and refreshments. Students left empowered with the knowledge to navigate the international scholarship landscape and pursue advanced business education opportunities abroad.v
