TAU Commissions 374.2 kWp Solar Power Upgrade, Expands Campus Energy Capacity
Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) has commissioned a major upgrade of its solar electricity farm, expanding installed capacity from 214 kWp to 374.2 kWp in partnership with Decrown West Africa.
Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) has commissioned a major upgrade of its solar electricity farm, expanding installed capacity from 214 kWp to 374.2 kWp in partnership with Decrown West Africa.

The project reinforces the University’s drive for sustainable energy, resilient infrastructure, and uninterrupted power supply across its campuses.
The upgraded facility delivers 329 kW of active distributed generation and integrates a combined battery storage capacity of 778.44 kWh. This configuration provides stable electricity to academic buildings, hostels, and other critical facilities across TAU’s East and West Campuses.
At the commissioning ceremony, the Founder and Chancellor, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi, praised Decrown West Africa, the University’s technical team, and project engineers for effective execution, reiterating TAU’s commitment to renewable energy adoption and strategic industry partnerships.
A notable component of the project was the direct participation of TAU Engineering students in the installation process, aligning with the University’s emphasis on experiential learning and workforce-ready training.

The upgrade positions TAU as a leading proponent of sustainability and innovation in higher education, while strengthening operational reliability through clean energy investment.
