NUC Begins Accreditation of NTI Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in Kaduna
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has commenced the accreditation of Bachelor’s degree programmes offered by the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna. The exercise began on Thursday, January 29, at the Institute’s headquarters in Kaduna.

The accreditation is being conducted by an NUC-appointed team to assess programme quality, facilities, staffing, and academic processes in line with national benchmarks.
Receiving the team at the Directorate Conference Room on behalf of the Director and Chief Executive of NTI, Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura, the Acting Registrar and Secretary to Council, Malam Yusuf Idris Aliyu, expressed the Institute’s appreciation to the NUC for its role in ensuring quality assurance, relevance, and global competitiveness in Nigeria’s university system.
He noted that the accreditation exercise provides NTI with an opportunity to showcase its investments in human resources, infrastructure, curriculum development, and student support services, while also benefiting from constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement. He assured the team of the Institute’s full cooperation throughout the process.
Also speaking, the representative of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri and Director of Affiliated Colleges, Prof. Mohammed Mukaila, described the accreditation as a quality enhancement process. He stated that NUC, the University of Maiduguri, and NTI share a common objective of strengthening higher education delivery, noting that systemic improvements remain essential to sustaining academic standards.
Speaking on behalf of the NUC accreditation team, His Majesty, Oba Prof. Sunday Amuseghan, said the visit was aimed at evaluating programmes and identifying areas requiring improvement. He commended NTI for organising the briefing session and facilitating the exercise.
The accreditation team inspected physical facilities, engaged academic and administrative staff, and conducted detailed programme assessments. The exercise is scheduled to continue on Friday.
