The Federal Polytechnic, Oko has elected members of its Council Selection Board, a critical step toward strengthening institutional governance and ensuring transparency in key administrative appointments.

At an emergency meeting of the Congregation, Engr. Dr. Ananti John Egbunike, Mr. Chike Nwolum, and Comrade Innocent Okeke were elected to represent the body on the Selection Board. Similarly, the Academic Board elected Dr. Kenneth Ezekwe and Mr. Chioma Nwankwo as its representatives.

Announcing the results, the Rector and Chairman of both the Congregation and Academic Board, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, charged the elected members to conduct the selection process with objectivity, integrity, and fairness, stressing the need to identify the most qualified candidates.

The Selection Board is mandated to oversee the appointment of a substantive Registrar, a position held in acting capacity for the past four years, as well as a new Bursar, following the demise of the former occupant of the office. The Board is expected to ensure that the process is merit-based, transparent, and fully compliant with extant laws and institutional regulations.

Addressing staff at separate emergency meetings held on January 27, 2026, at the Polytechnic Auditorium, Dr. Awuzie expressed deep appreciation for the unity and support shown by staff toward her administration. She explained that the meetings were convened specifically to elect credible members who would help steer the selection of competent candidates for the two strategic positions.

“I most sincerely appreciate all members of staff for your unwavering support, solidarity, and sense of unity. As the saying goes, united we stand, divided we fall—and united, we have chosen to stand,” she said.

The Rector noted that the enduring legacy she seeks to leave behind is one of peace, mutual respect, and institutional unity, adding that the realization of this vision would mark the fulfillment of her service to the Polytechnic.

She further expressed satisfaction with the steady implementation of her 12-Point Agenda, attributing the institution’s growth and stability to the prevailing atmosphere of peace.

“I am glad to affirm that my 12-Point Agenda is being implemented holistically. None is neglected and none is sidelined. Each speaks to the growth, stability, and future relevance of our great institution. Peace is the soil in which progress grows, and without it, no achievement can truly endure,” she stated.

The election of the Selection Board members signals a decisive move toward institutional consolidation and administrative renewal at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
