Three outstanding students from the University of Ibadan (UI) have been selected to participate in the U7+ student challenge, scheduled to take place in Cote D’Ivoire from May 15 to 17, 2024. Goodness Balogun and James Olayinka, both from the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, along with Victoria Ayodeji from the Department of Food Technology, have been chosen to represent UI at this prestigious event.

Hosted by the Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouët-Boigny (INP-HB) Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, the U7+ student challenge brings together teams from various universities to develop interdisciplinary projects addressing local issues linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

Each challenge team comprises three students from any academic level, be it undergraduate, graduate, or professional, accompanied by one faculty member or staff leader. Together, they will pitch innovative projects aimed at advancing the UN SDGs.

The University of Ibadan joins a select group of prestigious institutions worldwide, including the University of Ottawa and University of Toronto (Canada), Ecole Polytechnique (France), Indian Institute of Technology (India), Osaka University (Japan), Université Cheick Anta Diop (Senegal), and Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouet Boigny (Cote D’Ivoire), in this collaborative endeavor.
