For candidates seeking admission through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the following requirements apply:

- Obtain a minimum of 5 credits in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE/GCE) Ordinary Level, including English Language, Mathematics, and three other subjects relevant to the chosen course, within two sittings.

- Choose the correct JAMB subject combination for the intended course of study.

- Score at least 180 in the JAMB UTME examination.

- Select UI as the first or most preferred choice.

- Participate in UI Post UTME/Screening.

- Candidates must be 16 years of age or above. But with the recent Federal Government directive, this is expected to change to 18 years and above.

For those opting for Direct Entry (DE) admission, the requirements include:

- Attain a minimum of 5 credits in the SSCE/GCE Ordinary Level, including English Language, Mathematics, and three other subjects related to the desired course, within two sittings.

- Possess A’ level/IJMB passes in two subjects relevant to the area of study.

- Provide JUPEB/A’ Level passes in related subjects.
