UNIABUJA Commences Combined 29th and 30th Convocation with Special Jumu’ah Prayers

The University of Abuja (UniAbuja), also known as Yakubu Gowon University, officially commenced its combined 29th and 30th Convocation ceremony on Friday, April 10, 2026, with a special Jumu’ah prayer session at the University mosque.

The event was attended by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi. Their presence marked the start of a week-long series of activities celebrating the academic achievements of the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 graduating sets.

During the sermon, the Chief Imam, Mal Murtala Lawal, focused on the themes of leadership and responsibility. He offered prayers for divine guidance to ensure a peaceful and successful ceremony for all participants and the wider university community.

The University management has advised graduands to collect their academic gowns at their respective faculties and to assemble for the academic procession by 8:30 AM on the final ceremony days.
