Emir of Keffi Delivers Historic Goodwill Speech at Nasarawa State University Silver Jubilee

In a ceremony filled with prestige and reflection, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, delivered a poignant goodwill speech to mark the 25th Anniversary (Silver Jubilee) of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).

The monarch addressed a distinguished audience that included the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Attahiru Jega, and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman.

The Emir paid tribute to the founding fathers of the institution, specifically acknowledging the foresight of the first Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu (Turakin Keffi), whose leadership established the university’s foundation.

He also shared a deeply personal connection to the institution's history, honoring his late father, Alhaji Dr. Muhammad Chindo Yamusa II, who served as the university’s first Chancellor for 15 years. Dr. Yamusa III, who has served as Chancellor for the past decade and was a former lecturer in the Faculty of Law, noted that the university's growth from its humble beginnings to a reputable centre of research and innovation is a "testament to resilience."

In a somber moment, the Emir extended heartfelt condolences to the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Attahiru Jega, on the recent passing of his wife. On behalf of the Keffi Emirate Council, he offered prayers for the family, asking for divine strength to bear the loss.

Addressing the students, the Emir urged them to remain focused and disciplined, describing them as the "future leaders" whose acquired knowledge will shape Nigeria's destiny. He highlighted the university’s achievement in producing graduates who are contributing significantly on both national and international stages.

The speech concluded with a call for renewed collective commitment from all stakeholders to ensure that the achievements of the first 25 years serve as a springboard for an even brighter future for the institution.
