UNICAL Senate adjusts academic calendar admonishes students on prompt registration of courses

The Senate of the University of Calabar has announced a slight adjustment in the academic calendar of the institution as well as guidelines that will enhance a seamless semester, Myschoolnews report.

The announcement of the adjustments and the guidelines were conveyed by the Vice Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Prof. Florence Obi at the 234th Senate Meeting of the University tagged “ Special Senate For Results” held at the University’s Senate Chamber.

The Chairman of Senate said the adjustments made were in line with the University Senate and Administration’s overall concern for the good of the students and Management’s favourable disposition towards their welfare.

Prof. Obi disclosed that in the resolutions reached by the Senate of the University, examinations for the 2nd semester of the 2020/2021 session will commence on June 26, 2023, and run till July 17, 2023, while a new academic session will begin on July 28, 2023, adding that, lectures for the new session will commence from July 31, 2023.

The Vice-Chancellor stated that the apex academic organ of the institution also resolved that the “ no registration, no examination” policy of the University still holds and that students are advised to pay their fees and conclude registration on or before June 23, 2023, when the portal will be shut.

She called on students to take the course (s) Registration Exercise seriously as that is the only condition that qualifies them as Unical students, adding that, those who fail to register before the commencement of examinations should write formally for suspension of studies.

The Vice-Chancellor informed that no supplementary examination will be given to students for the semester except for those with genuine reasons and accordingly advised those having problems registering for their courses after payment of fees to formally notify the office of the Vice Chancellor in writing.
