The Faculty of Computing at the University of Delta (UNIDEL) recently held an Industrial Training Report Seminar, providing 400-level students with an opportunity to present their experiences from the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).

The event allowed students to reflect on their time in various industries, highlighting key lessons and achievements.

Dr. Ejaita Okpako, the Dean of the Faculty of Computing, spoke to UNIDEL Media about the significance of the seminar. "This seminar is organized to assess what our students learned during their industrial training. It’s a crucial part of the curriculum that ensures they gain firsthand experience from real-world industries," Dr. Okpako explained.

The seminar was split into three groups, each with about fifty students, to ensure a smooth and timely presentation process. Experienced academic staff, including Associate Prof. Fidelis Aghware, Dr. Richard Oveh, and Dr. (Mrs.) Bridget Malasowe, led the examination panels for each group. This structure not only facilitated efficient presentations but also quickened the release of results.

"We want our students to be prepared not just academically, but professionally, and these seminars are part of that preparation," he added.

One of the participants, Ikechukwu Emmanuel Iheanyichukwu from the Department of Computer Science, expressed his appreciation for the seminar. "It was a great opportunity to showcase my activities during the SIWES internship. It gave me the chance to reflect on what I learned and how I applied my knowledge in a real-world setting," he said.
