ABU VC Commissions State-of-the-Art Administrative Block for ACENTDFB

The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has commissioned a new administrative building for the Africa Centre of Excellence for Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology (ACENTDFB). The building, equipped with modern facilities, was unveiled on April 23, 2025.
Prof. Bala commended the centre for its dedication, highlighting its achievement of 10 patents and urging their commercialization to benefit humanity. He expressed optimism that the centre's research excellence could contribute to ABU's future Nobel Prize win.
The Centre Leader, Prof. Y.K.E. Ibrahim, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for providing a supportive environment, noting that the centre has secured $9.7m in World Bank grants and additional funding from other sources. The centre has also made significant contributions to the university, including funding online resources and facilitating international collaborations.
The new administrative block features advanced facilities, including forensic science laboratories, a crime scene demonstration lab, and smart classrooms.
