UNILAG and University of Liverpool Collaborate to Establish International Heritage and Coastal Urbanism Research Lab
The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the School of Architecture, University of Liverpool, are collaborating to establish an International Heritage and Coastal Urbanism Research Lab.
The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the School of Architecture, University of Liverpool, are collaborating to establish an International Heritage and Coastal Urbanism Research Lab. This initiative will explore the impacts of rapid globalization and climate change on West African cities, with a focus on cultural heritage and the socio-economic livelihoods of vulnerable communities.
Prof. Lawanson
The project, funded by the Leverhulme Global Professorship programme, was secured by Professor Taibat Lawanson, a Professor of Urban Management and Governance at UNILAG. The collaboration will also introduce a Joint Masters in Global Urbanism and Heritage and an exchange programme for Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers. This initiative is expected to strengthen ties between the two cities of Lagos and Liverpool.
UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, congratulated IADS and Prof. Lawanson on this achievement, highlighting the positive impact of the programme on academic collaboration and urban research.
