UNILAG Releases Revised Academic Calendar for 2024/2025 Academic Session

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has unveiled its revised academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session, approved by the Senate on January 29, 2025. The first semester will begin on January 6, 2025, for 100 and 200 level students, with online lectures for 300 to 500 level students ending on February 14, 2025.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has officially announced the revised academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session, following the approval by the university's Senate on January 29, 2025. The newly adjusted schedule aims to streamline academic activities and provide clarity for students, staff, and faculty for the upcoming academic year.

First Semester 2024/2025 Session: Key Dates

The revised first semester will kick off on Monday, January 6, 2025, with lectures for 100 and 200 level students. Online lectures for students in 300 to 500 levels will conclude on Friday, February 14, 2025, marking the end of the 15-week period.

Students in the 300 level will begin moving into halls of residence on Saturday, February 15, 2025, and will engage in practicals and examinations for a three-week period starting Monday, February 17 through Friday, March 7, 2025. In a significant shift, 400 and 500 level students will move into their respective halls of residence on Sunday, March 9, 2025, with their practicals and exams scheduled from Monday, March 10 to Friday, March 28, 2025.

The semester will culminate with the matriculation ceremony on Friday, April 11, 2025, and the official end of the semester on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Students will depart after their final exams, and the registration portal for the second semester will open.

Second Semester 2024/2025 Session: Key Dates

The second semester will commence with the opening of the online course registration portal on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Students are expected to move into their halls of residence by Friday, May 2, 2025, with lectures officially beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025. Registration for courses will close on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

The academic year will proceed with a two-week period for editing registered courses from Monday, June 16 to Sunday, June 22, 2025. Lectures for the second semester will end on Friday, August 8, 2025, after 14 weeks of academic engagement.

A lecture-free week and GST examinations will take place from Monday, August 11 to Friday, August 15, 2025. Following this, undergraduate exams will commence from Monday, August 18 to Saturday, August 30, 2025. The Faculty of Education will hold its core course examinations from Monday, September 1 to Saturday, September 6, 2025.

The second semester will officially conclude on Saturday, September 6, 2025, with students departing the university. The registration portal for the 2025/2026 academic session will also open on this day. Final results for the semester will be considered by the Board of College of Studies (BCOS) starting Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Statutory Programmes

The university will continue its regular statutory programmes throughout the academic session. These include monthly Faculty Board of Studies/Examiners meetings held on the second Wednesday of every month, inaugural lectures on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, and Senate meetings on the last Wednesday of every month.
