The annual event is organized to honour the legacy of the celebrated poet and playwright, the late Professor John Pepper Clark, whose works have significantly influenced African literature.

Themed "J.P. Clark and Studies in the Humanities: De-colonising the Colonial and Postcolonial African Modernity," this year's conference will explore how J.P. Clark's literary contributions intersect with the broader humanities to reshape understanding of both colonial and postcolonial African experiences.

The official opening ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 10 a.m., and will take place in the Faculty of Arts Boardroom at UNILAG. The event will be a hybrid one, allowing both physical and virtual participation via Zoom.
