UNILAG VC Urges New DBA Cohort to Embrace Innovation and Collaboration for National Development
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has encouraged newly admitted participants of the UNILAG Business School (ULBS) Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, has encouraged newly admitted participants of the UNILAG Business School (ULBS) Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme to cultivate strong friendships, collaborations, and engage in meaningful research aimed at solving contemporary challenges.
Speaking at a reception held on Monday, September 30, 2024, to welcome the 2024/2025 DBA cohort, Prof. Ogunsola highlighted the importance of aligning academic programmes with industry needs to foster innovation. She urged participants to stay open-minded, ready to learn, and prepared for the rigor of the programme.
“The task before you is to learn new and innovative ways of solving complex problems, especially in your fields of practice. So, work hard, learn, innovate, and become better persons, not just for individual career growth but for national development and transformation,” Prof. Ogunsola said.
The Executive Director of ULBS, Professor Mike Adebamowo, also congratulated the 35 participants who were selected from a pool of 84 applicants. He emphasized the school’s mission to cultivate leaders who uphold integrity in the Nigerian business landscape and assured the cohort of a world-class learning experience with contributions from both academics and industry professionals.
The DBA Programme Director, Dr. Simeon Ifere, outlined the programme’s objectives, stating that it builds on the foundation of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) to equip participants with advanced research-based knowledge and professional expertise. He added that the DBA programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic research and practical industry solutions.
The event also featured goodwill messages from members of the ULBS Advisory Board, including Mrs. Funke Osibodu and Chief (Dr.) Olusegun Osunkeye, CON, OFR, who both commended the new cohort for their determination and encouraged them to fully embrace the transformative three-year programme.
