UNILORIN Expels and Rusticates 19 Students for Alleged Offences
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Kwara State has expelled and rusticated 19 students, including six final-year students, for various alleged offences.
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), located in Kwara State, has taken disciplinary action against 19 students, including six final-year students, for their alleged involvement in various offences. This announcement was made in a press statement issued by the Director of Corporate Affairs of the University, Kunle Akogun, on Monday.
The decision to expel or rusticate the affected students was reached following recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 220th/221st meeting. The approval for these actions was granted by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Wahab Egbewole, SAN.
The statement outlined a range of offences committed by the students, including misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, assault, beating a fellow student, admission racketeering, and other forms of misconduct.
Penalties for these offences varied, with some students facing rustication for either one semester or one academic session, while others were expelled from the institution altogether.

The affected students span across different academic levels, including 100, 200, 300, and 400 Levels, indicating that disciplinary action was taken regardless of the students' academic progression.
