UNILORIN Launches Second Transportation Park to Ease Student Movement
The University of Ilorin has officially launched its second transportation park. This is in a bid to alleviate transportation issues for students amid ongoing economic challenges.
In an effort to ease the transportation burden on students, the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) Students' Union has launched a second transportation park, following productive discussions with the University Management. The official announcement was made on October 28, 2024, during a press release from the Kaduna Nzeogwu Building.
The new transportation park, located at the University Gate, aims to provide students with more accessible commuting options across campus. Starting today, Marcopolo buses will operate from the second park at a fare of N100. The buses will follow a designated route that includes the Staff Quarters, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and the existing school park, offering service from morning until evening.
To ensure a well-regulated transportation system, the Students' Union has collaborated with the University Administration. Other transportation service providers wishing to operate from the new park will be required to formally register with the university, brand their vehicles in the university’s colors, and adhere to regulated pricing for operations on campus.
The Students' Union encourages all students to take advantage of this new service, emphasizing that it is designed to ease commuting challenges. They expressed their sincere gratitude to the University Administration for their timely support during this critical period.
"This initiative reflects our commitment to enhancing the welfare and well-being of all Smart Unilorites," stated Victor Oghenetega Agezeh, the Executive President of the Students' Union.
