The University of Ilorin's Linguistic Immersion Centre conducted its annual visit to the Emir of Ilorin's palace for cultural enrichment and language proficiency.

The University of Ilorin's Linguistic Immersion Centre undertook its annual excursion to the Emir of Ilorin's palace. Led by Prof. Badmus Olanrewaju Yusuf, Director of the Centre, the visit aimed to enrich the educational experience of participants from various West African countries including Benin, Cote D’Ivoire, Niger Republic, Togo, Cameroon, and Burkina Faso.

The courtesy visit, a requisite for the Centre's language proficiency certificates, was warmly received by His Royal Highness, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin. His Majesty applauded the university's commitment to internationalization and emphasized the shared humanity among all present, regardless of nationality. "We all look alike as brothers and sisters," remarked the Emir, reassuring the students of their welcome in Ilorin.

Prof. Yusuf highlighted the significance of the Emir's leadership in fostering peace and harmony in Ilorin, essential for the Centre's operations. The students, accompanied by Dr Segun Oyelabi and Dr Sola Olatunji, were introduced to key palace staff and engaged in an informative tour, guided by the Palace Curator.

"This visit not only fulfills an academic requirement but also deepens our students' understanding of Nigerian culture and traditions," noted Prof. Yusuf, former Dean of the Postgraduate School at the University of Ilorin.
