The University of Ilorin is set to celebrate its 39th Convocation Ceremonies, which will take place from October 17th to 22nd, 2024. The event will feature a variety of academic activities, including a convocation lecture, press briefing, award of degrees, and the commissioning of projects.

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has announced the schedule for its 39th Convocation Ceremonies, a week-long celebration of academic achievements and university milestones, running from Thursday, October 17th to Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024.

The series of events will begin on Thursday, 17th October 2024, with a Press Briefing by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, at the University Auditorium, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. This will officially set the tone for the convocation activities.

The convocation continues on Friday, 18th October 2024, with a Convocation Lecture at the University Auditorium. The lecture, titled *"Nurturing Democratic Values and Education for the Future of Nigeria,"* will be delivered by Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Nigeria's Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation. The event will commence at 9:45 a.m., with graduates expected to be seated by 9:00 am.

Following the lecture, a Cocktail for the Convocation Lecturer will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the Multipurpose Hall, and later in the day, an opera performance titled "The Unending Flame (On Our Land)" will be staged at the Performing Arts Theatre at both 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The production, directed by Dr. Taiye Shola Adedola, is expected to be a highlight of the celebration.

The convocation ceremonies for graduating students will span two days. On Monday, 21st October 2024 (Convocation Day I), the university will hold the Graduation Ceremony for 4-Year Programmes, including the presentation of prizes, diplomas, certificates, and first degrees across various faculties, such as Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Communication & Information Sciences, Education, Environmental Sciences, Life Sciences, Management Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the University Auditorium.

On Tuesday, 22nd October 2024 (Convocation Day II), graduates from the 5th and 6th-Year Programmes, as well as Postgraduate Degrees, will be honored. The faculties of Agriculture, Engineering & Technology, Veterinary Medicine, Clinical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Law will take part in this session, which will also start at 9:00 a.m. at the University Auditorium.

The ceremonies will culminate with the Commissioning of Projects by the university’s Visitor at various sites across the campus, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on the same day.
