UNIMED to Host 5th Emeritus Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe Distinguished Lecture on Healthcare Innovation
The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, has announced the 5th edition of the Emeritus Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe Distinguished Lecture, bringing together academics, healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, students, and members of the public to discuss the future of healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

This year’s lecture is themed “Reimagining Nigerian Healthcare: Leadership, Research, and Innovation for the Future,” and is expected to provide a platform for critical discussions on strengthening Nigeria’s health system through innovation, leadership, and research-driven solutions.
According to the university, the event will feature Professor Kayode Ijadunola of the Department of Community Health, College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, as the distinguished lecturer.

UNIMED noted that the event is designed to stimulate practical and forward-looking conversations on healthcare reform, with emphasis on leadership, research excellence, and technological innovation as key drivers of a resilient health system.
The university further encouraged stakeholders across academia, healthcare, and policy sectors, as well as students, to attend the lecture, describing it as an opportunity for intellectual engagement and knowledge exchange on pressing health challenges in Nigeria and beyond.
