The Vice Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, lauded the historic role of the Institute of Petroleum and Energy Studies, which originally began as the Institute of Petroleum Studies, as a pioneer in university-industry partnerships during the tenure of Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs. These partnerships have expanded over the years, fostering numerous collaborations between the university and industry.
Dr. Belgori praised the University of Port Harcourt for its academic excellence and commitment to education, particularly in teaching, research, and community service. The visit underscored the importance of sustaining the university's relationships with key partners such as Total Energies and IFP School.
The leadership of Dr. Belgori was also commended for advancing the collaboration, which is seen as crucial to both the university and the energy industry.
