UNIPORT Vice-Chancellor Delivers Final Christmas Message, Appreciates University Community and National Stakeholders

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UniPort), Professor Owunari A. Georgewill, has delivered his Christmas message to the Governing Council, staff, students, alumni, partners, and stakeholders of the University, marking the fifth and final Christmas address of his tenure.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UniPort), Professor Owunari A. Georgewill, has delivered his Christmas message to the Governing Council, staff, students, alumni, partners, and stakeholders of the University, marking the fifth and final Christmas address of his tenure.

In the message, issued on 25 December 2025, the Vice-Chancellor expressed deep gratitude to all members of the UniPort community for their commitment, resilience, and collective effort in sustaining the institution’s academic excellence and community spirit throughout the year.

Professor Georgewill extended warm Christmas felicitations to the Visitor to the University, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, commending his leadership and continued support for Nigeria’s education sector. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, whose education and social development initiatives, he noted, have positively impacted the University of Port Harcourt.

The Vice-Chancellor further appreciated the Chairman and members of the Governing Council for their guidance, as well as the University Senate and Management for their steadfast commitment to institutional growth. He commended teaching and non-teaching staff for their dedication to scholarship, administration, and service delivery, describing their work as central to the University’s stability and progress.

Addressing students, Professor Georgewill described them as the heartbeat of the University, while extending goodwill messages to host communities, strategic partners, alumni, and stakeholders for their cooperation, support, and shared sense of purpose in advancing UniPort’s mission.

Reflecting on the year 2025, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the University community for standing firm through challenges and successes alike, noting that their collective efforts in teaching, learning, governance, security, and service have upheld the honour and reputation of the University of Port Harcourt as a beacon of excellence and character.

He concluded by wishing the entire UniPort community peace, joy, renewed strength, and greater achievements in the coming year, while expressing optimism that 2026 would usher in new opportunities and higher institutional accomplishments.
