UNIPORT Vice-Chancellor Issues Final Christmas Message; Reflects on Five-Year Tenure

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UniPort), Professor Owunari A. Georgewill, has released a heartfelt Christmas message to the university community, marking the fifth and final yuletide address of his tenure.

In his message dated December 25, 2025, Professor Georgewill expressed profound gratitude to the staff, students, and stakeholders who have supported the institution throughout his leadership.

The Vice-Chancellor extended formal felicitations to the University Visitor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his continued support of the Nigerian education system. He also acknowledged the positive impact of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, H.E. Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike, on the university’s social and educational development.

Reflecting on the symbolism of the season, Professor Georgewill urged the community to embrace the ideals of love, humility, and hope.

"Through challenges and triumphs, uncertainties and breakthroughs, you stood firm. Your collective effort has deepened our community spirit and upheld the honour of UniPort as a beacon of excellence," he stated.

As his tenure nears its conclusion, the Vice-Chancellor concluded with a prayer for peace and rest for all members of the university family, wishing them a "prosperous and purpose-driven New Year 2026."
