UNIPORT Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, Extends Eid El-Fitr Felicitations to Muslim Community
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, has issued a heartfelt message of goodwill to the Muslim faithful within the university and across the global community as they mark the 2026 Eid el-Fitr celebrations.
In a statement released on Thursday, March 19, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan is a significant period of joy, gratitude, and reflection for homes and communities throughout Nigeria.
Professor Georgewill emphasized that the essence of Eid extends beyond the festivities of breaking the fast. He described the season as a profound reminder of the need for continuous growth in compassion, patience, and dedication to the welfare of others.
"Beyond the festivities, Eid al-Fitr reminds us that the true spirit of Ramadan is about reinforcing the bonds of community, peaceful coexistence, and national solidarity," the Vice-Chancellor stated.
On behalf of the University’s Governing Council, Management, Staff, and Students, Professor Georgewill extended his warmest congratulations to the Muslim community. He urged everyone to uphold the enduring values of faith, sacrifice, and generosity—principles he described as the very foundation of the nation.
The Vice-Chancellor also made a call for collective kindness, encouraging the university community to remember the less privileged during the celebrations.
