University College Hospital's Chief Medical Director Honoured with Prestigious Award
Professor Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, the Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, has been conferred with an Honorary Fellowship of the International College of Dentists (FICD).
The award ceremony took place on September 22, 2025, at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, UCH, Ibadan, during the 50th anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Dentistry, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.
The Honorary Fellowship award recognizes Prof. Otegbayo's outstanding contributions to healthcare leadership and his unwavering support for dental education and practice in Nigeria. As a distinguished leader, Prof. Otegbayo has demonstrated a commitment to promoting staff welfare and fostering a supportive work environment at UCH.
Prof. Otegbayo has also received recognition for his labour-friendly leadership style, which has fostered industrial peace and enhanced productivity within the health institution. The National Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP), Oyo State Council, previously honoured him with an award for his dedication to promoting staff welfare.
Under Prof. Otegbayo's stewardship, UCH has witnessed significant reforms that have strengthened service delivery, enhanced medical training, and improved research capacity. His leadership has made the hospital a hub of excellence in Africa, earning him the "Yoruba Youth Humanitarian Icon for the Year 2025" award.
