University College Hospital, Ibadan Denies Owning N495m to IBEDC

The University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan has refuted claims that it owes the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) a bill of N495 million.

Mrs. Funmilayo Adetuyibi, the Public Relations Officer of UCH, clarified in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan that the hospital's administration had been proactive in settling bills brought by IBEDC.

Adetuyibi stated that the present administration, led by Prof. Jesse Otegbayo, inherited over N27 million in bills as of February 27, 2019, and has since ensured monthly payments to IBEDC, while also addressing backlog bills inherited from previous administrations.

She dismissed reports of excessive spending on diesel, clarified discrepancies in power supply records, and underscored the hospital's efforts to address energy challenges through the establishment of an energy committee.

Adetuyibi appealed for support from individuals, organizations, and the international community to assist UCH in maintaining its status as a national heritage and providing quality healthcare services.
