University of Lagos Hosts NEEDS IMC, Reaffirms Commitment to Proper Fund Utilisation

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Thursday, August 28, 2025, received the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) of the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS) Assessment Intervention Fund.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Thursday, August 28, 2025, received the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) of the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS) Assessment Intervention Fund.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor ‘Muyiwa Falaiye, welcomed the delegation led by Comrade (Hon.) Ibeji Nwokoma, National President of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). Professor Falaiye briefed the Committee on recent activities of the University and outlined efforts made to access and execute projects under the NEEDS Assessment Intervention Fund.

He further assured the Committee that the University remains dedicated to following due process and committed to the adequate utilisation of accessible funds.

The visit by the NEEDS IMC included:

  • A meeting with the University management and the University Budget Implementation Monitoring Committee (BIMC)
  • Inspection of NEEDS Assessment projects in the University
  • Evaluation and monitoring of funds disbursed for the 2021 NEEDS Assessment projects

The 7-man Committee, accompanied by members of the UNILAG BIMC, also inspected facilities at the Faculty of Law, Akoka campus, and the Faculty of Pharmacy, Idi-Araba campus.
