The lecturer in question, Mr. Mfonobong Udoudom, purportedly appeared in the viral footage wearing only a pair of boxers. Identified as a faculty member within the General Studies division of the university, Mr. Udoudom has been suspended indefinitely pending a thorough investigation into the incident.

In an official statement released on Tuesday and signed by Acting Public Relations Officer, Chief Okwun Omeaku, the university clarified that Mr. Udoudom is not a professor and emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct involving staff and students. The suspension, effective immediately, aims to facilitate a comprehensive inquiry by a disciplinary panel convened by the university.

“As a university, we are committed to protecting our students from any form of abuse and exploitation," the statement affirmed. "The University Management will not hesitate to punish Mr. Mfonobong David Udoudom, according to our rules, if he is found guilty by our disciplinary panel.”

Furthermore, the University of Nigeria underscored its dedication to upholding ethical standards and safeguarding the welfare of its academic community. The institution pledged to conduct a thorough investigation, with appropriate sanctions to be imposed should Mr. Udoudom be found culpable.
