Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto Warns Students Over Poor Attendance
The Division of General Studies at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) has issued a strong warning to students over poor attendance in General Studies (GST) lectures.
According to a circular released on August 8, 2025, and signed by Dr. Sadat Ibn Adam, the Examinations Officer, the university is deeply concerned about the low turnout of students for GST lectures since the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic session.
The university's Revised Student Handbook (2020/2021) stipulates a minimum of 75% attendance as a requirement to sit for examinations. Students who fail to meet this requirement risk facing punitive academic actions, including being barred from participating in continuous assessments and exams.
The Division of General Studies has urged students to take the circular seriously and improve their lecture attendance immediately. This move aims to ensure students adhere to university regulations and maintain academic standards.
Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto is one of Nigeria's premier institutions, known for its commitment to academic excellence and research. With a rich history dating back to 1975, the university offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various disciplines.
