The 11th edition of the All Africa University Games (FASU) kicked off in spectacular fashion with a colorful opening ceremony on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Co-hosted by Lagos State University (LASU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG), the event brought together universities from across Africa, showcasing a vibrant display of unity, culture, and sportsmanship.

Held at the UNILAG Sports Centre, the ceremony was a celebration of African diversity and excellence, with attendees treated to dazzling cultural performances, a parade of athletes, and the symbolic lighting of the Games torch. Dignitaries, university officials, athletes, and spectators filled the stands as the Games were declared officially open.

The event saw an impressive turnout from participating universities, including teams from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Egypt, Zambia, and other African nations. The march past of the competing universities, accompanied by their flags, was one of the highlights of the evening, as athletes proudly displayed their national and school colors.

Speeches from key officials, including the Vice Chancellors of LASU and UNILAG, emphasized the importance of using sports as a unifying force for African students.
