WAEC has released the 2024 timetable for the November/December WASSCE for private candidates, urging them to check exam dates to stay prepared. The exams began on October 25 with practicals and will continue until December 20.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the timetable for the 2024 November/December West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates. The announcement, shared via WAEC's X handle (formerly Twitter), encourages all candidates to review the schedule to stay informed about their exam dates and fully prepare for the upcoming assessments.

According to the released timetable, the 2024 private WASSCE kicked off on Friday, October 25, beginning with the Food and Nutrition 3 (Practical) planning session and the Home Management 3 (Practical) planning session. The final round of exams will run until Friday, December 20, following a newly adopted hybrid model that combines computer-based testing (CBT) and traditional formats.

In addition to highlighting the start dates, WAEC has made provisions for candidates with special needs, who will receive one and a half times the regular time allotted to other candidates, ensuring fair participation in the exams.

Key Exam Dates to Note

  • English Language: Candidates will sit for the English Language 2 (Essay), English Language 1 (Objective), and English Language 3 (Test of Orals) on Friday, December 6, 2024. All English Language components will be conducted on the same day, providing candidates a single dedicated day to complete this essential subject.

  • Mathematics: General Mathematics, also known as Core Mathematics, is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2024. This will include both the Mathematics 2 (Essay) and Mathematics 1 (Objective) exams, allowing candidates to demonstrate their quantitative skills.

  • Economics: The Economics 2 (Essay) and Economics 1 (Objective) exams are set for Saturday, November 30, giving candidates ample time for preparation between core subjects.

WAEC also noted that candidates can access the timetable and exam updates through its official channels. This initiative is aimed at keeping students informed and reducing last-minute confusion about exam schedules.
