WAEC Releases WASSCE-CBT Results for Private Candidates
The examination took place between Wednesday, January 31 and Saturday, February 17, 2024. Out of 8,139 candidates who sat for the exam, 3,424 (42.07%) obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language and/or Mathematics
The West African Examinations Council, Nigeria, announced on Friday the release of results for the first-ever Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE-CBT) for private candidates in 2024.
Transitioning from traditional paper-based exams to computer-based ones, the council introduced a hybrid method where questions were projected on computers. Multiple-choice answers were provided in real-time on the computer, while essay and practical test responses were written in booklets given to candidates.

The examination took place between Wednesday, January 31 and Saturday, February 17, 2024. Out of 8,139 candidates who sat for the exam, 3,424 (42.07%) obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language and/or Mathematics.
Additionally, 2,519 candidates (30.95%) achieved credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Marking and coordination were conducted at three venues in Lagos, Enugu, and Kaduna from March 1 to 16, 2024, involving 459 examiners. Notably, the 2024 entry figure of 8,362 candidates reflected a 4.30% decrease compared to the previous year.The examination was administered across 140 CBT centers nationwide.
