Yakubu Gowon University Acting VC, Prof. Patricia Lar, Assumes Office Amidst Calls for Peace and Collaboration

Professor Patricia Manko Lar, the newly appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, has officially taken office. In her first official engagement, Professor Lar, alongside the newly appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Senator Lanre Tejuoso, met with university management, provosts, deans, and other officials.

During the interactive session, Senator Tejuoso emphasized the council's commitment to restoring order and strengthening the institution. He noted that the university had recently gained prominence for the wrong reasons, which was not ideal for an institution located in the nation's capital .

"Our first mission is to restore sanity to this institution," Senator Tejuoso said. "The Acting Vice-Chancellor has a six-month assignment, and we must ensure that by the end of her tenure, she leaves behind a lasting legacy."

Professor Lar stressed the importance of peace, unity, and academic excellence in repositioning the university for greatness. "We are back on course, and together, we will make history," she said. "I bring peace, friendship, and a commitment to academic excellence and development."

The university community has welcomed the new leadership, with many expressing optimism about the future of the institution. Professor Lar's appointment as Acting Vice-Chancellor follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's recent changes in the university's leadership .
