Young African Lawyer Achieves Milestones: Called to Bar and Awarded Oxford Scholarship

Matilda Akayesi, a young African lady, has achieved remarkable success by being called to the Ghana Bar as a Lawyer and securing a scholarship to pursue her master's degree at the University of Oxford, England.

Matilda's journey began with a bachelor's degree in Law from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. She continued her legal education at the Ghana School of Law, where she was inducted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana.

Sharing her achievement on LinkedIn, Matilda expressed gratitude for being awarded a full scholarship funded by the Africa Oxford Initiative for her master's at the prestigious University of Oxford. Additionally, she received the Keith Murray Graduate Scholarship from Lincoln College, University of Oxford.

Matilda's academic excellence was further recognized as she became a recipient of the Supperstone Law Scholarship, an annual award granted to a single individual. She thanked her friends and family for their support, emphasizing that her accomplishment would not have been possible without them.

Acknowledging her twin sister and friends who assisted in reviewing her application essays, Matilda expressed her thankfulness to God for the support from the people in her life. Anticipating an enriching year at Oxford University, she looks forward to the opportunities the future holds.

In a similar story, Destiny Ogedegbe, who earned a scholarship to Harvard University, has achieved a Master's in Law and excelled in the New York bar exam, making history by gaining admission to both Harvard and the University of Oxford for his Master of Law degree.
