Young African Mathematician Achieves PhD at 25, Sets New Record

In a remarkable achievement, Abdulzeid Yen Anafo, a talented African mathematician, has made history by obtaining his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the tender age of 25. This extraordinary milestone was reached at the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa, Ghana.

Abdulzeid's academic journey commenced at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Ghana, where he completed his undergraduate studies at the age of 20, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Pure Mathematics. His pursuit of excellence continued as he embarked on his Master's degree at the prestigious African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS).

The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, with its primary focus on Mathematical Sciences, has its roots in South Africa, while also establishing a network of affiliated institutes in Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

Abdulzeid Yen Anafo expressed his gratitude to both divine providence and the dedicated professors who guided him through his academic voyage. Celebrating his achievement on LinkedIn, he shared, "At age 25 on the 5/4/2022, I successfully defended my PhD in Mathematics (Statistics option) thesis by publications. I am super grateful to God and my supervisors Prof. Suleman Nasiru and Dr. Lewis Brew for their support and guidance."
