The Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University (KSU), Prof. Kehinde Eniola, announced that 101 students have successfully benefited from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) under the administration of President Bola Tinubu. This significant achievement was disclosed during a recent press conference marking the conclusion of the university's first academic calendar for the 2023/2024 session.

Prof. Eniola confirmed that NELFUND has deposited the tuition fees for these students into the university's account. The university, which welcomed 1,200 new students following a rigorous selection process in December 2023, officially commenced academic activities on January 16, 2024.

In his remarks, Prof. Eniola highlighted the university's ongoing commitment to academic and infrastructural development. He also shared insights from an agribusiness exhibition organized by students from the Business Administration department, emphasizing the critical role of agriculture in ensuring national food security.

The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to former state Governor for establishing KSU and praised the current Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering support and funding that have facilitated the university's growth. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of the Okun Development Association (ODA) in North America, which donated 400 classroom chairs, and Pa Samuel, who generously contributed 100 palm seedlings, vintage furniture, and assorted stationery to the institution.

Addressing concerns about accommodation and transportation for students and staff, Prof. Eniola noted that the university has acquired four tricycles to enhance mobility to and from the campus. He also assured stakeholders that the university's perimeter fence is nearing completion, bolstered by the provision of five motorcycles for security patrols by Governor Ododo.

The press conference also featured presentations by the Theatre Arts department, celebrating African Communication Day organized by the Department of Mass Communication. Prof. Eniola was accompanied by several top management staff, including the University Librarian, Dr. Mbashir Abdulateef Olanrewaju, and other deans from various departments.
