22-Year-Old Woman Earns Dual Degree in Mathematics and Engineering, Emerges Best Graduating Student at US Varsity

A 22-year-old woman named Joy Watson has  emerged as the top graduating student at Virginia State University in the United States. Joy achieved this remarkable feat by earning two bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Engineering, both with exceptional grades.

Joy received Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering Technology, with a minor in dance.

Along with being recognized as the university's best graduating student, she was also granted a full scholarship to pursue her master's degree at the same institution.

Taking to her Linkedin profile to celebrate her accomplishments, Joy shared her journey at the university. She mentioned serving as the 94th Miss Virginia State University during her time as a student. Additionally, she actively participated in various extracurricular activities such as marching bands, student organizations, honor societies, fellowships, internships, and community service initiatives.

Reflecting on her academic journey, Joy highlighted joining the National Society of Black Engineers in her freshman year, which provided her with a valuable nationwide network. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, she continued her involvement virtually, eventually taking on leadership roles within the organization.

Joy also proudly shared her role as the 2023 Miss National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame, showcasing her exceptional ability to balance her double major achievements while maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout her college career.
