The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) is set to graduate 12,042 students at its 39th convocation ceremony, with 256 students earning first-class honors. This was announced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), during a press briefing on Thursday, October 18, 2024. The graduating students span various faculties, including Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine.

Prof. Egbewole highlighted that in the First Degree/Diploma category, 3,842 students will graduate with Second Class (Upper Division), 6,178 with Second Class (Lower Division), 1,299 with Third Class, and 62 with a Pass. Additionally, the ceremony will see the graduation of 124 MBBS students, 64 Nursing students, and 35 Optometry students, among others.

UNILORIN's Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to advancing its position as a leader in higher education in Nigeria, noting the university’s strides in digital transformation and research innovation. He emphasized the university’s ongoing efforts to position itself for global ranking through initiatives such as the migration to Amazon Web Services and the introduction of an Enterprise Resource Portal.

The university is also expanding its research capabilities, with notable achievements in agriculture, technology, and international collaboration, including partnerships to grow a unique rice strain and engage in mechanized farming training.
