Abia State Polytechnic's Department of Mass Communication Hosts Successful First Departmental Day

On August 28, 2024, Abia State Polytechnic's Department of Mass Communication held its first Departmental Day since its 2017 inception. The event, which featured speeches from Dr. Chinyere Eze, Dr. Chima Igbokwe, and journalist Anastesia Odochi Uchenna, included a range of activities such as the election of Mr. and Miss Mass Communication, dance performances, news casting, and a fashion parade.

The Department of Mass Communication at Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, celebrated its inaugural Departmental Day on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, marking the first such event since the department's establishment in 2017.

The event was a resounding success, drawing enthusiastic support from prominent guests in Aba and high spirits from students ranging from ND1 to HND2, as well as attendees from Temple Gate Polytechnic. The day was filled with a mix of memorable, fun, informative, and educational activities.

Dr. Chinyere Eze, Head of the Department, and Dr. Chima Igbokwe, Dean of SGSCT, joined Anastesia Odochi Uchenna, a seasoned journalist from Magic FM Aba, in addressing the students. Their talks focused on the importance of distinguishing oneself in the field of mass communication. Anastesia provided practical advice for aspiring journalists, emphasizing the value of self-development, learning from experienced professionals, recording one’s own work, being computer literate, and honing writing skills.
