ABU Lecturer Dr. AbdulKarim Adamu Biu Takes Over as Principal of Demonstration Secondary School

Ahmadu Bello University's (ABU) Demonstration Secondary School has welcomed a new principal, Dr. AbdulKarim Adamu Biu, who takes over from Prof. Abubakar Ismaila Shika. The handing-over ceremony, which took place on February 28, 2025, marked the end of Prof. Shika's tenure as principal.

Prof. Shika expressed his satisfaction with the choice of Dr. Biu as his successor, citing his 15-year teaching experience at the school before moving to the Institute of Education. Prof. Shika described his tenure as successful, highlighting the absence of any litigation during his time as principal.

Dr. Biu, in his inaugural speech, appealed for support from staff and students, emphasizing the importance of discipline and punctuality. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for the confidence they have placed in him to lead the school.

The Chairman of the Parents, Teachers Association (PTA), Prof. Muhammad Kabir, congratulated Prof. Shika on his successful tenure and wished him well in his future endeavors. Prof. Kabir also advised Dr. Biu to maintain a good working relationship with the PTA and to carry all staff along to ensure his success.

The Vice Principal Administration of Demonstration Secondary School, Malam Gimba Alfa, urged Dr. Biu to hold frequent meetings with year group tutors and take daily reports to ensure the smooth operation of the school.

Dr. Biu's appointment is expected to bring new leadership and vision to the school, building on the successes achieved during Prof. Shika's tenure.
