ABU Recruitment Update: 23,040 Applicants Compete for 453 Academic and Non-Teaching Vacancies

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has released an official update on its recently concluded call for applications into various academic and non-teaching positions for the 2025 recruitment cycle.

According to the institution, the application portal — which closed on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 — recorded an overwhelming 23,040 applications for only 453 advertised vacancies, underscoring the highly competitive nature of the exercise.

Breakdown of Applications

Graduate Assistant: 3,568 applicants

Assistant Lecturer: 2,457 applicants competing for 50 and 90 slots respectively

Administrative Assistant: 4,947 applicants for 10 slots

Data Processing Assistant: 1,175 applicants for 25 slots

Accountant II: 654 applicants for 7 slots

The University emphasized that any applicant who does not meet the advertised requirements will be automatically disqualified. Prospective candidates are further advised to verify the employment criteria for each position via the official recruitment portal: https://careers.abu.edu.ng/.

The recruitment process will now proceed to the screening, shortlisting, and interview stages.
