ABU Veterinary Medicine Class of ’82 visits Alma Mata, donates PAS, digital projectors

Ahmadu Bello University’s Class of 1982 students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine have visited their Alma Mata and as well donated three digital projectors and three public address systems to the Faculty.

The accomplished old students, led by the retired Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria, Dr. Gideon Mshelbwala, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, today after their arrival at the University yesterday (Wednesday, 6th March, 2024).

Speaking when they called on the Vice-Chancellor, the leader of the delegation, the retired Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria, Dr. Gideon Mshelbwala, explained that they visited the University to interact with staff and students with a view to identifying areas where they could assist their Alma Mata.

He also said that they came to express their enormous gratitude to Ahmadu Bello University for the knowledge gained at the time of their study in the Institution, saying the donation of digital projectors and public address systems was essentially to help facilitate teaching and learning at the Faculty.

The retired Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria finally expressed appreciation to the University Management and staff of the Faculty for the warm reception accorded them since their arrival at the University.

Receiving the old students, the Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, thanked them for the visit and enjoined other ABU alumni to emulate the distinguished old students of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor, who also stressed that the University always takes pride in seeing its graduates excelling in their chosen careers, assured the team that the items donated would be put to good use.

Also speaking, the Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Junaid Kabir, expressed the Faculty’s gratitude to the old students and that they were glad to interact with them at the Faculty.

Other members of the class included Dr. Adamu Aye Langzad, Dr. Yusuf Garba, Dr. Salisu Garba, Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, Prof. Najume Ibrahim Doguwar Giginya, and Dr. Obute Godwin Garba. They also included Dr. Gidado M. Muhammed, Prof. Aminu Ibrahim Daneji, and Dr. Abdu Alimi Bello.

The ’82 Class members were accompanied to the Vice-Chancellor’s office by the Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Junaid Kabir; Deputy Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Mohammed Aliyu Wakawa; Faculty Advancement Officer, Prof. Mohammed Hadi Suleiman; and the Faculty Officer, Malam Yusuf Gamji.

The Registrar, Malam Rabiu Samaila; the Director, Directorate of University Advancement and International Education, Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu; the Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Malam Auwalu Umar; and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Auwal Yusuf Mohammed, assisted the Vice-Chancellor in receiving the guests.
