Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, has clarified reports circulating online about the alleged involvement of its graduates in a Gombe State-bound National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) vehicle crash.
The purported incident, which gained traction on Wednesday, 19th November 2025, was unsubstantiated. University Management promptly contacted relevant authorities, including the Nigeria Police and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), as well as print and electronic media, to verify the claims.
Investigation revealed that one of the alleged accident victims, an AFUED graduate en route to Gombe for NYSC service, was involved in a minor accident along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, not the Bauchi/Gombe highway as reported. Only two casualties were recorded—the bus driver and one other person whose identity was unknown—and the graduate sustained no injuries. She has since safely joined her colleagues at the Gombe NYSC camp.

Several media outlets, including The Punch Newspaper (Friday, 21st November 2025, correspondent China Azubuike), confirmed that the report of a crash involving Gombe-bound prospective corps members was false.
The University thanked media organizations for their due diligence in seeking verification and appealed to all media practitioners to adhere to journalistic ethics, emphasizing truth, objectivity, and fairness.
AFUED urges the public, parents, guardians, and stakeholders to disregard the false story, describing it as entirely fake news with no factual basis.
