The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State has donated 12 office tables to the university to cater for some of the furniture needs of staff.

The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State has donated 12 office tables to the university to cater for some of the furniture needs of staff.

Myschoolnews reports this is even as the department also provided some financial palliatives to its staff to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy to ensure that they discharge their official responsibilities happily in the face of the present serious financial challenges.

 

While presenting the office tables to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom, the Head, Department of Chemistry, Prof. Nwabueze Elom noted that it was the second time they were making such donation due to their passion and determination to support the vision of the University.

 

He stated that the desire was to ensure that every staff of the Chemistry department has good furniture in their offices to enable them discharge their duties in a conducive work environment, adding that the fund used in purchasing the 12 office tables were part of the proceeds from the sale of Chemistry practical manuals.

 

He further pleaded with the University Management to assist the Department in securing more seats for the staff to enable them discharge their official duties in comfort.

 

While commending the department for their kind gestures, the Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by his Special Assistant, Dr. John Chukwuma Ekpe, thanked the Head of Department, Prof. Elom for his thoughtfulness in using the proceeds derived from the sale of their departmental laboratory manuals to purchase office tables for staff as well as cater for their welfare.

 

He noted that the idea to embark on the gestures was noble and worthy of emulation, while urging the incoming leadership of the department to continue the legacy of Prof. Elom and do more for the department and the University at large.

 

Some staff of the department expressed their joy for the tables and financial palliative, describing Prof. Elom as a man of integrity who has the welfare of staff at heart. They pledged to use the tables to discharge their duties diligently and effectivel.y
