AEFUNAI Scholars Ranked Among Top 2% Scientists Worldwide

Five scholars from Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AEFUNAI), Ebonyi State, have been ranked among the top 2% of scientists globally by Elsevier and Stanford University, as announced on September 16, 2024.

In a remarkable achievement, five academic staff members from Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AEFUNAI), Ebonyi State, have been ranked among the top 2% of scientists globally by Elsevier and Stanford University, United Kingdom. This prestigious recognition highlights their exceptional scholarly publications and research output in Scopus.

According to data released by Elsevier on September 16, 2024, these distinguished scholars are part of a select group of 233 scientists in Nigeria acknowledged for their academic contributions. Elsevier, a leading international publisher of scientific, technical, and medical (STM) literature established in 1880, is renowned for its vast portfolio of scholarly journals, books, and databases.

Among the recognized scholars is Dr. Ukwuaja Kingsley from the Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medical Sciences, who achieved an impressive ranking of 25th in Nigeria and 43,008th in the world, with a total of 162 papers published in Scopus. Prof. Okereke Chukwumerije, from the Department of Political Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, secured the 42nd position in Nigeria and 63,614th globally, with 70 publications.

Other notable scholars include Dr. Eieazu Chinedum O from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Physical Sciences, who ranked 66th in Nigeria and 105,352nd worldwide with 68 papers; Dr. Onyeneke Robert Ugochukwu from the Department of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, who placed 178th in Nigeria and 315,896th in the world with 51 publications; and Dr. Anadebe Valentine Chikaodili, also from the Department of Chemistry, who ranked 215th in Nigeria and 504,117th globally with 41 papers.

The Vice-Chancellor of AEFUNAI, Prof. Sunday Elom, commended the research accomplishments of these scholars, emphasizing that their achievements underscore the university’s commitment to academic excellence. He noted that their success enhances the institution's reputation as a serious public university in Nigeria and an emerging academic brand on the global stage.

In recognition of their resourcefulness, the Vice-Chancellor has directed that commendation letters be awarded to the distinguished lecturers.
