Ahmadu Bello University Becomes First Advanced Huawei ICT Academy Support Centre
The award was presented to Prof. M.B. Mu'azu, Director of the IIOE Nigeria National Centre, at the Huawei iASC Roundtable held in Shanghai, China, over the weekend.
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has been awarded the title of 'Advanced Huawei ICT Academy Support Centre' (iASC), becoming the first institution to receive this recognition. The award was presented to Prof. M.B. Mu'azu, Director of the IIOE Nigeria National Centre, at the Huawei iASC Roundtable held in Shanghai, China, over the weekend.
ABU earned this accolade due to its expertise in various fields, including enterprise IT, optical communications, enterprise wireless, data communication, digital power, Huawei cloud computing, intelligent vision, intelligent collaboration, and system software. During the global event, which was part of Huawei Connect '24 themed "Empowering Global ICT Instructors," Prof. Mu'azu also delivered a presentation representing the university.
This Advanced iASC status allows ABU to train instructors from around the world, marking it as a significant player in global ICT education. Prof. Mu'azu announced that ABU has initiated Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions in Data Communication and Security for 18 instructors from nine higher education institutions across Africa. The participating institutions include DMI St. John The Baptist University in Malawi, Botswana International University of Science and Technology, Arrupe Jesuit University in Zimbabwe, and several others.
Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration, received the report from Prof. Mu'azu on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, and expressed congratulations to the team for their exceptional work and dedication to advancing ICT education.
