Ahmadu Bello University Hosts High-Impact Workshop in Collaboration with IPA
The workshop, aimed at enhancing the capacity of young researchers, was held at the Central Bank of Nigeria Centre for Economics and Finance, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, through its Institute for Development Research and Training (IDR&T), in collaboration with Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA), has organized a high-impact workshop for academic staff and postgraduate students.
The workshop, aimed at enhancing the capacity of young researchers, was held at the Central Bank of Nigeria Centre for Economics and Finance, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, lauded IPA for selecting the university as the venue for the workshop and emphasized the need to increase research output from the social sciences and humanities. He noted that most of the research presented in the recent Times Higher Education (THE) ranking were science-based.
Prof. Bala commended IDR&T for establishing collaborations with IPA and urged participants to take full advantage of the workshop to enhance their research skills.
In his welcome address, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Salihu, Director of IDR&T, expressed gratitude to IPA for organizing the first workshop of its kind in Northern Nigeria at ABU. He revealed that participants were carefully selected based on rigorous scrutiny of their concept notes.
The Head of the Department of Economics, Prof. Dahiru Suleiman, delivered a closing remark, thanking the Vice-Chancellor and IDR&T for facilitating the event. He also expressed hope for sustained collaboration between the university and IPA.
The workshop represents a significant step toward building research capacity and fostering academic excellence at ABU.
