Ahmadu Bello University Renews MoU with Nagasaki University for Collaborative Research
This renewed partnership aims to enhance academic cooperation and capacity-building between the two institutions, reinforcing their commitment to advancing research and education.
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria, has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nagasaki University, Japan, originally signed in 2009. The renewal was formalized on October 9, 2024, at Nagasaki University, with ABU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, signing on behalf of the Nigerian institution.
The renewed MoU extends the collaboration for another five years, focusing on joint research, publications, and the exchange of staff and students. New areas of emphasis include Engineering and Education, alongside previous initiatives such as teaching, conferences, and workshops.
Key officials present at the signing ceremony included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Raymond B. Bako; the Director of Advancement and International Education, Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu, mni; and the Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Mohammed Nasiru Shuaibu. Also in attendance were the Centre Leaders of the Africa Centre of Excellence for Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology (ACENTDFB), Prof. Y.K.E. Ibrahim, and the Sustainable Procurement Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Centre of Excellence (SPESSCE), Prof. Japhet Wisdom.
